We at ‘Pon Di Grill’ are a fast food take away, passionate about jerk chicken and not any old jerk chicken with a bit of commercial jerk seasoning and cooked using any form of heat necessary. I am talking Authentic Jerk Chicken marinated and cooked in the traditional way like how it was original done in the 17th century and then perfected in the Caribbean in the 1960’s.
The passion we have for jerk chicken comes from the time spent in Jamaica as a child where you would stop off with your parents at a roadside jerk hut and you could smell that barbecue smoke bellowing from the oil drums from a mile away. This is a tradition we were brought up on and the memories have never left me. I have had the dream to bring it to Britain & Europe since I was a small boy and now is the time.
After many years of getting the oil drum out in the back garden for parties, special occasions or just on a nice summers day, the time has now arrived, and we have perfected the dish to a standard we can no longer keep to ourselves and must share with the rest of the World. We model ourselves on the best Jamaica has to offer and everything is 100% authentic and true to our culture.
The great taste comes from the secret marinade and sauces which sets us apart from our competitors. Our tried and tested methods are totally different to the way I know other operators do Jerk Chicken which does not give it that authentic jerk taste. We are also very health conscious about what we serve, so whilst maintaining the authenticity and originality of our jerk chicken it is also very nutritious.
